My condolences to the Baltz family. I had the honor of serving with Charlie in 1956 aboard the USS GRAMPUS (SS-523) in Norfolk, Virginia.

Charles A. Baltz

November 16, 1929 - January 8, 2012

KEIZER - Charles Augustus Baltz was born in Portland, Oregon on November 16, 1929 to Arthur William Baltz and Agnes Donaca Baltz. He died on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at his home of advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with his wife, Beth and beloved cats, Emily and Charley at his side.

Charles was a proud veteran who served in the US Navy submarine service for 20 years. After his honorable discharge he did consulting related to his military service and later career paths included real estate, automobile sales and computer service work.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Hartley Baltz of Keizer as well as his children; daughter, Ginger Boykin; son, A.J. Baltz (Susan); their children and grandchildren, all of Suffolk, Virginia. His son, David predeceased him in 2007, leaving a son. In addition, his sister, Charolette Wareham and her husband Byron of Fortuna, California; cousin, Gloria Jacoby, (Dick) of Omaha, Nebraska and locally, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and Emery Karst as well as adoring nieces and nephews are included in those mourning his passing.

Please honor his memory by making a contribution to a favorite charity , spending time with your family and when encountering one of our servicemen or women, give them your heartfelt thanks for their service.

Charles Baltz loved his God, his family and his country.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service at 1:00 pm. Mr. Baltz will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery.
