Pro-sharia lobby shifts into high gear

Sharia advocates desperately want to convince legislators and the public that Islamic law is plain vanilla --- and totally nonthreatening to existing U.S. legal codes. Notwithstanding a nationwide Muslim Brotherhood-backed pro-sharia push, nothing could be further from the truth.

“There are many unpleasant doctrines within Islam,” including its “repugnant” criminal code, honor killings, female genital cutting, and a Quranic verse Muslim clerics often cite, proclaiming “wives as a tilth unto you” (2:223), to deny the existence of marital rape. [1]

So allowed sharia professor Sadiq Reza at an Aug. 25-26 New York Law School (NYLS) conference. Any attempt to enforce its criminal code, he added, “would violate Constitutional law.” He insisted, though, that western Muslims don't “favor” these aspects of Islam and none seek to impose them. Evidence that they do abounds (here, here, here, here, here) but Reza said his broad web search found none.

Northwestern University Islamic law professor Kristen Stilt, too, disdained sharia criticism as “lunacy.” And University of Toronto Islamic law professor Mohammed Fadel referred the audience to a glossy, Soros-funded condemnation of skeptics, breathlessly entitled “Fear, Inc.” to persuade the gullible.

Soon afterward, journalist Joseph Klein recalled some points of Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood “scholar” Yusuf Qaradawi, revered by the Islamic world --- and “Fear, Inc.” co-author Wajahat Ali. Qaradawi identifies fully with sharia as described by former CIA director R. James Woolsey and fellow so-called hate mongers headed by Center for Security Policy CEO Frank Gaffney, not Ali and his co-detractors. Qaradawi considers charity “jihad with money, because God has ordered us to fight enemies with our lives and our money,” as I noted in fall 2007. Like the MB-backed Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Qaradawi also seeks to internationally criminalize insults to Islam or Mohammed.....

As we approach the 10^th anniversary of the September 11^th attacks, I believe it would be helpful for all of us to consider the lessons learned from the jihadist assault of Nidal Hasan.  The odds of a massive attack similar to 9/11/01 being repeated are much lower than a single shooter or a team of shooters deciding to reenact the FT Hood or Mumbai incidents.  And as we know from history, it is always better to get your information from primary sources instead of hearsay or the “official story.”  “Smith” is a SI student and has agreed to be interviewed in order that others might learn the lessons that should not be forgotten.

JC:  Are you military or civilian and what is your training background in firearms and combatives? 

Smith:  I am civilian from a military family. I've grown up with firearms for as long as I can remember. I've been taught that they are a tool, and something to take seriously. I've been taught the "rules" of firearms- I know enough to be able to defend myself, and am consistently training more all the time. As for combatives, I've been taught those as well but not as much as the military. I also took some martial arts as something to do. I could defend myself if need be, but could use more training. I know that you'd better not carry unless you're willing to take a life when threatened and that it's not a decision to take lightly.....

Never before had I been paralyzed by terror and anguish;
so consumed, so compelled.
But I was on Tuesday.

Never before had I sat under my Nation’s starry skies,
with only the sight of fighter jets and the only sound; of freedom.
But I did on Wednesday.

Never before has our family gathered together and
made a “Plan A” to save our lives in case of disaster.
But we did on Thursday.

Never before had I witnessed so many American Flags,
heard so many anthems nor seen so many remembrance candles.
But I did on Friday.

Never before had I seen so many many American heroes,
nor heard of such brave acts across our land and skies.
But I did on Saturday.

Never before had I felt our Nation to be united
in grief, prayer, anger and resolve.
But I did on Sunday.

Never before had I been glad to be interrupted
by commercial breaks on television.
But I was on Monday.

Never before had my soul wept beyond tears,
nor had my heart bled red, white and blue.
But they did that week.

Sept 11-Ten Years later
September 11th. The day that changed America. It was one of America’s worse days and one of our best days. Now, ten years later what three words describe Sept 11 to you and what image do you remember the most?

I was conducting military training near Virginia and heard the news of the first plane hit. The image I remember the most is watching live tv and seeing the second plane hit. I knew the Marine Corps was about to get a lot busier.

To me the three words would be Vulnerability, Selflessness, and Patriotism.

Vulnerability because America was riding pretty high on our horse and didn’t see the warning or think something like this would or could happen. We became complacent as a country. Guess we forgot the attacks on Pearl Harbor.

Selflessness because on that day in a city that is diverse as America is big, hundreds of different nationalities, races and people in general put all of their indifferences aside and came together. Not only at the site of the attack but around the US. It was one of our worse days and one of our greatest days.

The following days after that attack I have never seen such Patriotism in this country not even on the Fourth of July. American flags lined the streets, houses and businesses and America was very united. Why did we let this patriotism fade?....

ALIPAC was founded on 9/11/2004 in honor of the victims of 9/11. This date was also chosen because the 9/11 attackers exploited America's lack of immigration enforcement and inadequate immigration procedures.

Pentagon Charges Sept. 11 Suspects
WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has charged six detainees at Guantanamo Bay with murder and war crimes in connection with the Sept. 11 attacks, it was announced Monday. Officials said they'll seek the death penalty in what would be the first trials under the terrorism-era military tribunal system.
"These charges allege a long term, highly sophisticated, organized plan by al-Qaida to attack the United States of America," Brig. Gen. Thomas W. Hartmann, the legal adviser to the tribunal system, told reporters. He added that the charges have been sworn "against six individuals alleged to be responsible for the planning and execution of the attacks" which occurred on Sept. 11, 2001 and killed nearly 3,000 people.
Hartmann said the six include Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the attacks in which hijacked planes were flown into buildings in New York and Washington. Another hijacked plane crashed in the fields of western Pennsylvania.
The military will recommend that the six men be tried together before a military tribunal. But the cases may be clouded because of recent revelations that Mohammmed was subject to a harsh interrogation technique known as waterboarding - which critics call torture...

TODAY's joint visit to Ground Zero may give the impression that John McCain and Barack Obama share a common analysis of the causes of 9/11 and how to deal with its legacy. They don't.
The divide starts with the question: Why was America attacked?
McCain's answer is simple (or, as Obama might suggest, simplistic): The United States was attacked because a resurgent Islam has produced a radicalism that dreams of world conquest and sees America as the enemy.
In different shapes and sizes and under a range of labels, that radical streak of Islam has waged war on America since 1979, when Khomeinists seized the US embassy in Tehran and held its diplomats hostage for 444 days......
.....OBAMA, by contrast, doesn't use terms such as "the Global War on Terror" or "Islamic terrorism." Nor does he claim that America was simply an innocent victim.
In one speech, he used the image of a US helicopter flying over the poor countries in Africa and Asia, where it's seen as a symbol of oppression. He says his objective is to turn that helicopter into a symbol of American aid to the downtrodden.
For Obama, the threat comes not from terrorists but from "extremists" and their "program of hate." He never uses such terms as "jihadist," judging them hurtful to Muslims. He speaks of "violent extremists who are a small minority of the world's 1.3 billion Muslims."....
