Shipmates,

Just an update on the Next Return to Subschool, and the SUBVETS Anniversary Celebration.May 24th is the 38th anniversary of the incorporation of USSVI.SUBVETS Groton Base is looking at holding an Anniversary Celebration on 3 - 4 May. Part of that agenda is the Third Return to Subschool. You don't have to be a member of SUBVETS Groton Base to participate, any member of USSVI may attend.

The date was chosen so as not to interfere w/ any bases plans for the Submarine Birthday, and also not to interfere w/ any bases plans for Memorial Day. Primarily Kings Bay who holds a major event for Memorial Day Weekend.

At present the Return to Subschool is being scheduled for 3 May. The Return to Subschool usually includes attendees participating in a Basic Submarine School Graduation, touring through the Escape

Training, Flooding Trainer, Ship Control Trainer, and a tour of Basic Sub School. It also includes chow at the galley, and afterwards a catered dinner.

Additionally we are looking at a Golf Tournament on the same day. TheGolf Tournament includes greens fees, beverages on the golf course, grinders for lunch, and a dinner afterwards.

We will be combining the dinners for the Golf Tourrnament, and the Return to Subschool into one dinner.

All profits from both of these events will go towards the National Scholarship fund.

On Saturday 4 Dec Groton Base will be hosting the District One Meeting at 40 School Street. Later in the evening there will be a banquet for any and all who desire to attend. The guest speaker is Rear Admiral Richard P. Terpstra, the director of Special Programs for the Undersecretary of the Navy. There will be a sit down dinner, and dancing afterwards.

More information will be forthcoming on costs and reservations, but this is definitely going to happen. So if people are interested in attending and want to start planning vacations and travel they may do so.

Hope to see many of you there.
