Note from Bodega Bob
------------------------------------------------------------
Well shipmates, I trust you will
join Harry, myself, and the Submarine Store crew in expressing our
heartfelt sympathies to the victims and families of the September
11th massacre as well as in our expression of pride and support of
the fleet as it brings the wrath of God down upon the miserable
heads of those responsible.
This year's USSVI convention in
Peoria was well attended, considering the circumstances. For those of
you who didn't make it, it was a helluva party!
I get the biggest dang kick out of
a week of the mischief, mayham, & hair brained antics that only
submariners can come up with! One thing that really made an impression
on me was swapping sea stories with the oldest living submariner that I
have ever met!
The shipmate's name is Chief
McCann and he is 92 years old! Now, Chief McCann sat with me, Harry, & the Submarine
Store crew during the welcome aboard party. As if learning that the dude
was 92 years old was not enuff of a blast, I also learned that he was
spending the convention in the Honeymoon Suite because he just got
married!
Hoo Yah! Ya know what shipmates?
Bubbleheads got balls, of this there is no doubt! But ya know what else?
Looks like they're still working afternearly a century!
Keep the bubble,
Bodega Bob

Come and enjoy the close friendships the Cavalla brought us and share a
bit of nostalgia on board the first Cavalla. The progress of her
restoration is amazing! Individual
gifts, foundation grants and the tender loving care of Volunteers are
making her ship shape again.
The Hotel Galvez will be the
center of activities. There will be a Memorial Service alongside the
Cavalla on the 17th. In addition Galveston provides an
interesting area to visit. For details, contact Zeke Zellmer:
