USS Diodon (SS-349) History

The keel for the USS DIODON (SS349) was laid on 1 June 1944 by the Electric Boat Company at Groton, Connecticut. Sixteen months later, DIODON was launched. with Mrs. Daniel Cullinane, the wife of a Chief Petty Officer who perished on a submarine during World War II, applying the traditional champagne to her bow.
