On 14 June 1952, LCDR R.S. Froude relieved CDR Palmer as commanding officer.

In October 1952, DIODON sailed for the Pacific Northwest to provide services for aviation units operating at Whidbey Island, Washington. On 6 November, DIODON submerged for the two-thousandth time while in the Puget Sound area. DIODON operated with units of the Canadian Navy based at Esquimalt, British Columbia. The ship returned to San Diego in December 1952.

DIODON returned to the west coast for overhaul from February to May 1951. Resuming her west coast operations, DIODON aided in the training of Canadian naval air and surface forces out of Esquimalt, BC, from October to December 1952.

Jim,
Thanks for the web site info. I was only on Diodon for a short time, 10/52 to 12/52, when I received orders to recommission the Menhaden at Mare Island. I was a TM1(SS) at the time.

I retired after 26 years in 1969 as a LT. Once again, thanks for the Information.
