In March, DIODON departed from San Diego for a cruise in the Far East. While providing services for anti-submarine units of the Pacific Fleet, the ship called on the ports of
Yokosuka and Sasebo; Nagasaki, Japan; Buckner Bay, Okinawa; and Hong Kong. DIODON returned to San Diego in September 1954.
In October, she participated in "PACETRAEX" 1954.
