Disabled Vet Asks Obama A Question – gets rebuff from Obama
A few months ago I went to
listen to Barack Obama at a local college. When he was done with his speech
I got in line to ask him a question. When my time came, my question was;
'Senator Obama; I work with disabled veterans throughout the VA Hospital
system, what is your plan for our veterans, especially our disabled veterans
who use the VA Hospitals for their care. I stated we need mandatory funding
for our VA system to ensure the care is available when needed, especially in
light of the current situation in Iraq and the numbers of troops who are
coming home with severe disabilities.' He told one of his aide's to get my
name, blew me off, did not answer my question and I never heard from him or
the aide again.
Is this who we want as our 'Commander in
Chief'?...

Obama's 'civilian national security force' -police state here
With all the reporters
covering the major presidential candidates, it amazes me no one ever seems
to ask the right questions.
For several days now, WND has been hounding
Barack Obama's campaign about a statement he made July 2 in Colorado Springs
– a statement that blew my mind, one that has had me scratching my head ever
since.
In talking about his plans to double the
size of the Peace Corps and nearly quadruple the size of AmeriCorps and the
size of the nation's military services, he made this rather shocking (and
chilling) pledge: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to
achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a
civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong,
just as well-funded."
Now, since I've never heard anyone inside or out
of government use the phrase "civilian national security force" before, I
was more than a little curious about what he has in mind.
Is it possible I am the only journalist in
America who sought clarification on this campaign promise?
What does it mean?
If we're going to create some kind of national police
force as big, powerful and well-funded as our combined U.S. military forces,
isn't this rather a big deal?....

Protection Within Reach
The idea is to give you a HUGE boost in
home-defense. Here's the logic: The (12ga) shotgun (#4 shot or
similar) is the undisputed king of home defense. It packs the
meanest punch, it's shot spreads to give you the best chance of
hitting a target, and it's downright intimidating! Everybody old
enough to reason can recognize the sound of a cycling shotgun.
The problem is, what do you do with your shotgun? You
want it close to your bed, but if it's leaned up in a corner, you
have to do a rambo move to get to it and ready yourself. Not to
mention, you have to turn yourself away from an adversary in order
to grab it. If the shotgun is under your bed (as most are), you
could run into two problems. One, you might be too high off the
ground to reach it from where you are laying. Two, it could get
bumped around, and it simply might not be there when you need it.
Not to mention... things can get REALLY dusty under there.
If you find it difficult to execute a perfect
draw while completely alert and in front of a target... imagine how
hard it would be if you were confused from just having woke up to
the sound of your bedroom door getting kicked in!
With 'The Back-Up' however, your shotgun is
ALWAYS in the EXACT same, easily accessible position. One of my
first realizations, was "Wow, this thing REALLY hides your gun!".

Kobayashi Maru. The no-win scenario.
You're walking down an alley that you never should have
been in, in the first place. But you're lost, and you REALLY didn't want to
walk to the end of the block... Besides, it's broad daylight, and you've got
your trusty sidearm locked and loaded in your favorite carry position, and
you've got an extra magazine ready.
You walk into the alley, and shortly in you
begin to come up on a dumpster sticking out into the alley. You're nervous
about what could be behind it, and more nervous that you won't find out
until it's too late.
Your gut tells you something is wrong when you
get about 35 feet from the dumpster. Just then, two armed men step out from
behind the dumpster, and simultaneously begin raising their pistols.
You have about 1/1000th of a second to decide
what to do. Do you run? Do you put your hands up? Do you draw and start
blazing? Could even an expert come out of this situation unscathed?

opposition to a California ballot measure that would ban same-sex

In a letter to the Alice B. Toklas LGBT
Democratic Club read Sunday at the group's annual Pride Breakfast in
San Francisco, the Illinois senator said he supports extending
"fully equal rights and benefits to same-sex couples under both
state and federal law."
"And that is why I oppose the divisive and
discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and
similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other
states," Obama wrote.
Obama had previously said he opposes same-sex marriage but that each
state should make its own decision...

In my last report we discussed the fact that
night sights by themselves are only useful for about
20 minutes during a normal 24 hour period.
If it is too dark to see what is in your
opponent's hands, then you can't really identify a threat and you
should not shoot, even if you can see your night sights.
If it is light enough to identify your opponent
as a threat, then is it light enough to see your sights so you don't
really need night sights.
Well what do you do when it is too dark to
identify your opponent as a threat or not?
You use a flashlight to light them up!
Sounds easy, but using a flashlight in the wrong manner
can get you killed...
