Art Knowles, Crew of 1966 -1968 remembers the USS Diodon (SS-349) WESTPAC cruise in 1967:

• Delayed departure due to engine breakdown.

• Long patrol.

• Going over the side in Okinawa.

• Hong Kong.

• Underwater collision.

• Fire. Dead in the water in a typhoon.

• 30 Days in (the shipyard at) Yokosuka.

·     Japanese country western bands.

·     25 cent Black Russians.

·     Ships party.

• Shearing off pilings prior to tying up in Pearl, all under the watchful eye of COMSUBPAC.

• Losing a MK-14 torpedo on our return to San Diego.
