Good morning Jim,

I was wondering if you have a patch vest for USSVI. I do and I have a number of patches sewn on it. I recently purchased a "Cold War Patrol" patch and was going to add it to the vest. My question to you is this; does our 55 day submerged patrol in 1967 qualify as a cold war patrol?

I think it does and I personally believe that some of that patrol was in the vicinity of Vladivostok. They never really told us however, I remember being told on several occasions that we were up North and in an area where we shouldn't have been. Additionally, I remember an incident in which the boat was at sedge quiet and I was overhearing the sonar operator (Jim Ewing) conversing with the con. We were laying dead in the water and had a Russian sub about 50 yards off our starboard beam. We listened to them and I'm sure they were listening to us. That went on for about an hour and then the Russian sub moved away. What do you think?

I saw the recent photos of the Diodon reunion that you posted. Nice pictures. Not very many in attendance and I did not know any of them. I am still planning on trying to make the convention next year in Reno.

Hopefully somebody will try and do a 3rd Annual Diodon reunion there.

Green Board and DBF,

Jay Mack
