Hi Jim,
Glad to hear from you. I enjoy your site. I am not on-line so my internet skills are poor but I found your site pretty easy to use. I travel so much that I am on on-line so I get my e-mails at local libraries and like now when I am at one of my kids house.
I was ordered to the Perch out of sub school but when I got to San Diego I was changed to the Diodon. She was in WESPAC and instead of sending me to meet her in Japan they put me on the Rasher.
Even though I was an ET3 I worked on the deck gang. I went on Diodon as soon as she returned and put her theough the yard period at Hunters Point and stayed thru the next WESPAC in 59.
From Diodon I went to Nuc school in Mare Island. I was 1 of 8 submariners in a surface force class. I went from there to Idaho for quals and was married there and we are still together after 42 years and going strong.
I served on 3 nuc fast attacks, Sargo, Permit, Guardfish, and 2 boomers, Daniel Webster and Daniel Boone where I made 11 patrols. I also taught 3 years at Mare Island and spent 3 years in England, 2 eith the Defence Communications Agency and 1 at the Comm Sta in London. I retired as an ETCS in 1974.
I made the 1st reunion but will not make this one. I do have some pictures from my time on Diodon, but since I don't have access to the internet I made a disk and will send it to Dom Remily.
Take care and hope to hear from you and others.
Bob Jones
