Dear Jim,
It is with deep regret to inform you that Philip passed away last Spring.
He had always shared with us an incident that occurred on the boat in which
there was some kind of explosion and he had to treat one of the crew for
extensive wounds - mainly facial. The crew member's name was Bellinghauser and
Phil often wondered what happened to him. Do you know?
Serving on the Diodon and being part of the Submarine Service was a very special
time in Phil's life. In the summer of 2000 he took a trip down memory lane and
we visited the sub base in New London. He was so proud to have served.
If you would like to contact me in the future with any Diodon news please feel
free to do so.
