I Qualified on the dirty 'D' in 1957 and as did my younger brother in 1958. We served together on two boats. the Diodon (Sqdn 5) & couple yrs.later on the Caiman SS323 (Sqdrn 1).

I made two WesPac runs on the Diodon. I also, was stationed on the Tirante SS420 (Sqdrn 12), Key West. When I was a Reserve in 1954 was went on a 2 wk curse to Alcapulco on the Remora. Of the boats, my best memories are of the Diodon.

Years ago my brother and I were driving to Vallejo and drove past Mare Island NSY. In the moth balled boats, we saw the Diodon, it almost broke our hearts.
