Robert Coucher, Diodon Shipmate in 1945

I was QM3 on the USS S-48 from Sept. 1944 till the decomissioning after the war. I made every single scary dive during that period, and believe me they were scary. I had many shipmates on other S-Boats including S-47 and S-35 and S-36.

I served later on the USS Diodon (SS349). You might be interested to know we were fitted with a snorkel in, as I recall, about march 1945.

This only added to the excitement.
