My first boat. Qualified the day we return from WestPac in May 57. What a cruise that was - we became Golden Dragons, Shellback and Golden Shellbacks all on one trip! Went on to become Plank Owner on SSBN598 and SSN674 but rode USS RAZORBACK SS394 in between. There was nothing like the diesels. Retired 1974 as YNCS(SS).

I served on DIODON from OCT 56 until APR 58 and she was the first boat I qualified on (31 May 1957 - the day we returned from WestPac! 

May have some (but not many) pictures from the "Dirty D" that I plan on getting scanned so I can get them out to interested shipmates.  Will let you know
