You
obviously never knew the nuke navy. I claim that the real sailors were
in the Thresher Class fast attack nukes. We lived and died to serve and
be one. We steamed like none ever steamed before us. We stunk like the
best of you sonsovbitchs, we swore, cussed, joked, and had "Aft of
frame 52" as you had the aft battery. I take it very personal when
some sonovabitch suggests to me that he was more man, did deeds that
were more becoming of a sailor, and made him better than I as a result.
I
spent time in the diesel navy and the only thing I got out of it was sore
ears from the tremendous "Sucking" that ship did during
snorkeling "attempts".
You
had to go!! The Ruskies, and even the Argentines, were onto to you.
You could no longer defend with your old technology and that is of no
fault of yours directly; it was just time. We were both replaced by
something newer, faster, bigger, and in some circles, better. If you had
not been replaced we would be speaking Russian (or Spanish) now. So you
old sonovabitch, show some respect to those new sailors who are out
there protecting your old ass while you slowly sail into the "Aft
Battery" in the sky.
Poopie suits never made or unmade a real man, nor did dirty,
holey, acid eatin, bell bottoms. We partied just as hard as you, maybe
harder. We had loves in many ports like you, maybe more (loves that is).
We left a few children in them thar ports like you, maybe more (but
better looking for sure).
But we did not sink as many ships as you but could have if we
were called to do so, maybe more!! We did our job and had fun doing it.
Our ships, like many of us are now gone: disassembled and scrapped
because we wore them out from so much steaming. I remember the engineers
doing port and starboard while in Rio while the rest of us played on 6
section duty. They were dedicated and complained like a good sailor did.
Time changes everything. When will you get that in your thick
head? On the other hand maybe it is true that sonsofbitches never really
get it anyway!!
They just keep complaining!!
