Capt. Thomas "Tom" Michael Jaskunas, USN (Ret.) Services
 
Capt. Thomas "Tom" Michael Jaskunas, USN (Ret), was born Wednesday, August 24, 1949, in Chicago, IL  He received his Bachelors of Electrical Engineering and Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Upon graduation he was commissioned into the US Navy and rose to the rank of Captain. His last command was of the nuclear submarine, USS Lewis & Clark, SSBN 644.

After Capt. Jaskunas retired from the US Navy he was employed with the Medical University of South Carolina as the Director of Quality Programs at the MUSC Engineering Facility.  He was an Executive Board Member of the Cold War Submarine Memorial Foundation.  Surviving are his wife Carol, and two daughters, Elena J. McBride and her husband Henry of Auburn, AL and Taryn M. Jaskunas.

 
The relatives and friends of Capt. and Mrs. Thomas Michael Jaskunas are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM, Saturday, August 10, 2002, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
 
Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Wallenberg Blvd., Charleston, on Friday, August 9, 2002, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Vigil Service will be held at the church at 6:00 PM.
 
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Charleston, Inc., 3896 Leeds Ave., North Charleston, SC 29405, or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Family Life Center, 1695 Wallenburg Blvd., Charleston, SC 29407.
