Hi Glenn,
You were talking about Barrios putting pencil shavings in the tobacco can,
made me remember the EMC that was worried about his weight.
The guys in maneuvering room would cut his belt off about 1/8" each day. His belt kept getting tighter and he would cut back on what he was eating but still the belt was tighter. This went on for several days before he caught on to what was happening.
While we are on stories, do any of you remember when we were in Pearl Harbor, Fisher and someone, may have been Williams from the ATR went over on the beach. They came back in pretty bad shape. Fisher said he didn't need the gangway he could just stepped over on deck. When he stepped off the pier he fell in, Williams said "hang on, I'll save you." He jumped in on top of him. Williams shoes went right down Fisher's forehead leaving two marks. Fisher came up with sand in his shoes so he had been to the bottom. When he came up he bear hugged one of the pillings and would not turn loose. He kept telling the topside watch if he turned loose, he would drown.
Thanks guys,
GB & DBF
