Captain David G. Harschied, USN (Ret.)
 
Captain Charles MacVean, USN (Ret.), Secretary of the Pacific Southwest Chapter, reports "Dave passed away on 30 July, following several years of struggle with Parkinson's Disease." Captain Harschied was born April 6, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA and attended Dartmouth College under a NROTC scholarship. Spending 30 years in the Navy, Captain Harschied commanded USS GATO (SSN 615), USS DIXON (AS-37), Ballast Point Submarine Base, and Submarine Training Facility San Diego. His is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diana, sons Karl and Lars, daughter Kristin and five grandchildren. Private services were held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the National Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
