RADM McKnight, Jr., who made five patrols as commanding officer of USS PORPOISE earning a Silver Star and a Bronze Star during his campaign in the Pacific, died of congestive heart failure Feb. 8 at Scripps Mercy Hospital. He was 93.

Before retiring from active duty in 1959, RADM McKnight commanded six of the 12 ships he served aboard, including the destroyer tender Prairie in the Korean War.

His family is planning to have ashes scattered at sea from the submarine Scranton, on which his grandson, Lt. Keith Everett, is a navigator. In addition to his son, survivors include a daughter, Margot Everett of Casper, Wyo.; three grandsons; and four great-grandchildren. No services are scheduled.
