USS Midway Final Tour will end in San Diego as part of San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum


 

The day is coming when the Midway begins her final tour of duty on the south side of Navy Pier in San Diego.  She will mark San Diego's first major new visitor attraction in more than 20 years.  She'll serve as the cornerstone of the revitalized North Embarcadero, the gateway to downtown.  She'll join the Star of India and other historic and visitor attractions along the waterfront.

And, perhaps most importantly, she will serve as a poignant, compelling tribute to the hundreds of thousands of men and women who have embarked from Navy Pier in service to their country.  Midway Magic will live once again, in the hearts and minds of young and old alike when they come aboard and feel that special quality that has always set USS Midway apart. 

PROJECT UPDATE
The application review is progressing nicely as we work to answer Navy questions and provide additional financial resources requested by the Navy. The bottom line is that we are still tracking toward the establishment of the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum, but it is a process that is more a marathon than a sprint!  That makes your contributions all the more important as they enable us to maintain basic operations and to respond to Navy requests until we can welcome our first guest aboard the Midway.
