William Meyer Greener, 83, Of West Long Branch

WILLIAM MEYER GREENER, 83, of WEST LONG BRANCH, formerly of Bradley Beach and Las Vegas, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 24, at his residence. Mr. Greener was born in Elizabeth and had resided in Las Vegas for 15 years before moving to West Long Branch in September. Mr. Greener was a police officer for the Bradley Beach Police Department for 25 years, retiring as police captain in 1984.

 

He was a past fire chief of the Pioneer Fire Company No. 1 in Bradley Beach and a member of the PBA Local No. 50. Mr. Greener proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II as a first class torpedo man. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans Post 0125.

 

William Greener was predeceased by his wife, Lillian. He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Marsha and Jack Kinas of West Long Branch, and Jill and Joe Niglio of East Brunswick; his sister and brother-in-law, Pearl and Harvey Weinstein of Florida; and his uncle Gabriel Young of Las Vegas. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Laurie Davis of Howell, Marci Jerome of Fairfax, Va., and Matthew Niglio of East Brunswick; and two great-grandchildren, Lillie Jerome and Jacob Davis.

 

A graveside service was held on Monday at Agudath Achim Cemetery in Neptune. Arrangements were completed by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean Township.
