Subject: GUPPY Submarines, PacFleet
Here is a bit of trivia for submarine history. Did you know that the first guppy snorkel submarine in the Pacific Fleet was the USS REMORA (SS-487) ? The USS POMODON (SS-486) was the first guppy submarine in PacFlt but, without a snorkel.

Remora was converted at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo Ca. in  1947. If you look at the picture of POMODON you will notice how small her sail is because of the absence of the snorkel mast.
