Shipmates:

I am pleased to announce that a Third Submarine Memorial will be on the Arkansas River in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

This will be the Third Submarine Memorial in District 5.

All the original equipment is in place and the boat has had Turkish Sailors aboard since her decommission from the Turkish Navy.

The USS RAZORBACK was deeded to the City of North Little Rock, Arkansas in September 2002.

The boat will require a 3 month upkeep in Goluck Shipyard in Turkey to make her safe for transit followed by sea trails. This is a requirement to make the boat safe for transit to Arkansas.

The cost is $640,000.

We are faced with raising funds to complete the return of the RAZORBACK to Arkansas and any help to raise the funds for the yard repairs would be appreciated.

Any base or base member wishing to send a contribution to preserving the RAZORBACK and getting her to Arkansas please make your checks out to:

      Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum Association

        Send checks to:

          Carl Schmidt
          23 Rockwood Road
          Cabot, Arkansas 72023

This is a tax deductible contribution.

When a firm date for arrival in Arkansas is determined I will let everyone know. As more information becomes available I will forward this to the USSVI Webmaster.

NOTE:
Anyone wishing to be considered to crew the boat send an e-mail to Greg Zonner zonner78@alltel.net
