Notification of need
for on-line Auction for the Razorback return
Since 02-16-03

Gentlemen:
I am conducting an on-line auction with 100% of the proceeds going to fund the
transfer of the Razorback from Turkey to Arkansas.
I have conducted 3 “on-line” auctions in the past which have benefited the
Cavalla, Croaker and the Torsk to the tune of nearly $8000.
For those (this is being sent to all Base CO’s), who don’t know me, I am a
member and founder of Lockwood Internet Base, past National Historian,
designer of the Newsletter of the Year award, the Dinner For Sailors program,
and the first National Webmaster of USSVI. Nat. CO John Peters will answer any
questions you may have concerning my sincerity or intent.
I would appreciate you asking your membership if they would care to contribute
“stuff” to the auction or even to participate in the bidding.
The reason for the nebulous date is that we do not have enough product in
to firm the time/date. We have about 100 items but want 150-175. The auction
period will be 2 weeks. Bids will have to be emailed to me and then the guys
will have to go to the web page to determine if they have been outbid or not.
It is not a fancy deal like eBay.
I can, in the future be a fund raising source for your Base if I feel the
cause is right. That might include purchasing a “Base” meeting place, or
building a memorial for example.
My next auction after this one is already lined up to help the USS Clamagore
Association (not USSVI) related to raise funds for some needed repairs/upkeep.
For you District Commanders contemplating a District project, perhaps I can
help with that also.
I would need any merchandise shipped to a subvet associate of mine who has the
room to store and ship the stuff at: within in the next two weeks please!
