Monument salutes Vietnam vets, By Henry Cuningham Military editor
(EXCERPT) When Bruce Crandall got to Vietnam in 1965, his helicopter didn’t have the machine guns it was supposed to have. Some members of the crew even lacked their own guns.
Crandall spoke at the 229th Aviation Group’s dedication of a veterans memorial at Simmons Army Airfield on Fort Bragg. The 229th flies the Apache attack helicopter.
