Repeal the VA Patient Enrollment System

The Constitution of the United States proclaims that "all men (and women) are created equal." Yet, the United States Veterans Administration asserts that some veterans are more equal than other veterans.

VA medical care should be based om medical urgency, not military status... or who you know.

American veterans are again asked to qualify for government duty. We were asked to qualify for military service. We qualified. We served. We fought and we survived... some of us, just barely. Now, as veterans, we are asked to again prove ourselves worthy of receiving VA medical care. Some members of Congress asked and willingly received President Clinton's signature on a Public Law that requires certain veterans to annually register their names and financial information with the VA to determine if we will qualify under seven categories for harder to get medical services. All vets are encouraged to register.

Many veterans see this new law as yet another rung ripped from our ladder of veterans benefits and services. Gradually, the benefits and services we thought would never be weaseled are slowly being "reformed".

While some Congresspersons slice layers of fatty pork for their constituents American veterans are receiving clear notice that their diet of federal entitlements -- earned on fields of battle in defense of our nation -- are growing leaner.
