Life
whats up Warriors,its been along
time since we were together at
Wilson.I joined the Air Force and
went on to work in the Airline
business.I still live in the area
and went to the last reunion.I saw
Lynn Katley yesterday and he looks
great!
Never thought he would be a big game
hunter! As for me every once in
awhile I see a Warrior on the street
and my mind races back to those
great times!
Just had lunch with Rodney Hamlet
and it was great remembering the
good ole days!! Thanks to Lawrence
Reese for the arrangement getting us
together!
Life has been good to Rod and I, its
great to know where we started and
to see that our high school
experience was a good foundtion to
get us out into the real world! Not
that Wilson was not the "real
world". It was the seventies and all
that! Hope to find some 73' & 74'
yearbooks so that I could copy a
couple of pics...any help would be
greatly appreciated!!

Story
About
me:
A Conductor & Music Director of a
(18 piece) Jazz Orchestra (six
saxes, four trumpets, four trombones
& rhythm section), a (28 piece)
String Orchestra and a (35 voice)
Jazz Chorus in Oakland. I have had
the pleasure of creating these
ensembles and working with so many
wonderful people.
With the ability to chart music
without a piano (born with
perfect-pitch) and to score music
for any type of ensemble and having
the desire to continue my music
career, I Plan to redo the whole
thing in the Los Angeles area.
Since relocating to the Los Angeles
area, I am getting ready to do it
all over again.
Looking to start a whole new
ensemble.
Once everything gets going, the big
band will begin. The string
orchestra and jazz chorus rehearsals
are to be announced Oh, and I also
found my second calling. I love
performing stand-up comedy. Member
of the San Francisco Musician's
Union, Local, playing trumpet &
piano, with engagements with the
Circle Star Orchestra, accompanying
acts i.e. Gladys Knight & the Pips,
The Whispers, The Jackson, etc.,
etc., etc.
Co-composed, arranged and
orchestrated music to an
off-Broadway musical review titled
"Big Sister".
Arranged and orchestrated music to a
variety of music reviews in Las
Vegas, accompanying noted stars like
Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra and
other major celebrities.
Composed music and words to
commercial jingles (for major
products) "Levy Button-fly 501
Blues", "When the sun goes down the
levy cords come out", "Got me a
taste of the 501 blues", Princess
Cruises, etc., etc., etc.
Freelancing musician, including
playing cocktail piano at upscale
hotels, including Hyatt Regency,
Princess Cruises (Royal Princess in
Alaska), various bands and
ensembles. Pianist & Director of the
children and youth choirs at the
Doublerock Baptist Church in San
Francisco.
Minister of Music (Music Director) at the Doublerock Baptist Church in San
Francisco. Music Director and
Conductor of an orchestra on
Broadway titled "After Hours" in
1986.
Continued music education at the San
Francisco State University (piano
and contemporary Jazz composition)
and at the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music, (piano and
conducting) Studied Jazz Piano
technique privately under Odell
Edwards, a Jazz Pianist and
Composer. Influenced while learning
organ technique from Rev. Victor
Medearis and piano First Lady,
Gladys Medearis, at the Doublerock
Baptist Church in San Francisco.
Pianist and Director of the Children
and Youth Choirs at the Doublerock
Baptist Church in San Francisco.
Also influenced by an early mentor
Barbara Watkins, the original
minister of music at the Doublerock
Baptist Church in San Francisco.
Lastly mentioned, but certainly
first¿ I am a minister of the
gospel, then the Minister of
Music/Music Director at the
Doublerock Baptist Church in San
Francisco. "God comes first, then my
music"... I especially love serving
God and having a personal
relationship with Him and accepting
what He has called me to do, Music,
and spreading the His word.
