Hi Jim

Was browsing through your site and came across a link that had a familiar ring to it- "your_webmaster_in_1981_Delta_Associates_Inc.jpg". Sure enough, that's me (John Kolar) fourth from the left, back row. If I remember the names, it's me, Andre Nohl, Marty Hartigan then you. As I recall, you were involved in QC and were frequently out-of-office (Navy Reserve?).

If you remember me, perhaps you can reply to this email and we compare notes re the interveneing 20+ years.

I am at about just left of center in the back row, 7th from left.

The screen and pc board cage of the gas chromatograph I was evaluation testing is to my left.  This was in my position as a Research Evaluation Engineer in this start up scientific instrument company in Milpitas, California.

This photo shows just about all employees in the company at that time.

I came in March of 1980 as employee #32, straight out of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration district laboratory in San Francisco, CA, where I had been an Analytical Chemist.  I was in the US Coast Guard Reserve since October 2, 1978 as a 3rd Class Port Securityman.

When Delta Associates was acquired in 1982, we had about 125 employees.

I spent about 16 hours a day at that start up and it was a most exciting experience.  Came out of it in June of 1982 and went straight into Syva Instruments, an in-vitro diagnostic and therapeutic medical device company as a Quality Engineer II on June 14, 1982.  In order to reestablish my credentials after going from Analytical Chemist to Quality Engineer,  I had gotten an AA in QA, an MSc in QA, and earned certifications as an ASQC Certified Quality Engineer and Certified Reliability Engineer while at Syva.

I also advanced to USCG Senior Chief Port Securityman while at Syva.

October 4, 1994, I came out of Syva as a Quality Engineer III and in December 5, I started as a Senior Quality Engineer with MedaSonics, Inc., an ultrasound diagnostic medical device company.

In October of 1996, MedaSonics future was going down the tubes, and I started with Fidus Medical Technology, Inc., a microwave ablation therapeutic start up medical device company in Fremont, CA as a Senior Quality Engineer.

On January 1, 1997, I retired awaiting pay from the US Coast Guard Reserve as a Senior Chief Port Securityman.

On July 24, 1998, I was pushed out of the start up and in October 26, 1998 started with a contract R&D and manufacturing contract RF medical device company as a Senior Quality Engineer.

I am still with that company as I write this, on Sunday, March 23, 2003.
